Air Canada has round trip airfares travelling from Los Angeles (LAX) to Nagoya Japan (NGO) for $465 including taxes and fees. This makes 1 stop in Vancouver Canada (YVR).

Took same flight lax-Tokyo with no layover and it was 12 hours( $600 )everything I check based on the dates listed by you is a minimum 20 hours to an insane 32 hours flight
Of course I have not checked every single date but as far as I'm concerned if you have to fly 20+ hours is not worth it no matter how much you save
anyways, i'm not a big fan of air canada because unless you're going to canada, it makes an inconvenient stop somewhere in canada.
however, that said...13 hrs in vancouver is a 2-in-1! i hear their chinatown closely resemble hong kong.

I would suggest passing until the next deal, all the good dates with short layovers are gone.
